Anything But Books!

Hello everyone! It has been a while. I hope I haven’t lost your attention. But with all the dust that I had to clean off here I won’t be surprised if I did. After all we all have only so much time…and so many things to do. So to answer your first question Where was I? I am working hard toward the fulfilling of dream, I had mentioned in a post earlier. You remember the one in which I dreamed of being Shonda Rimes.  Yeah well I would not become like her by just saying so I thought might as well work toward it. And I did with single minded focus, and I had a small bit of joy last week, seeing my name in the credits of a show. They say a picture is worth a thousand words…and here is the picture of the small beginning of my journey.

Screen Play by Jaibala.....

Here is the link to the episode if you have the patience to watch it. So yes I have been away because I have been learning and writing Screenplay which I absolutely love doing. But how long could stay away from this space? So I am back to stay and never sway away again. This time again with a tag. I know for a person who says she does not like tags this is the third or fourth ( look I have lost count now!) tag I am responding to. But when one of your closest friend’s Tags you you just respond without even thinking and Sreesha had tagged me in the Anything But Books! post way back when. How this works is that There are a few questions I have to respond to with replies that have nothing to do with books. Now this is going to be hard, but I’ll try.

So here go my responses.

Name a cartoon(s) that you love

This is easy. I grew up on cartoons. Tom & Jerry, Flinstones, Looney Tunes, Swat Cats, Power Puff Girls, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Shazaam, Dexter, Scooby Doo…so many. As you can clearly guess I spent hours watching cartoon Network. But in my defence there was an entire summer vacation I spent with a fractured hand and nothing else to do 😉 But truth be told I will binge watch these and more even today.

What is your favorite song right now?

Those who know me know that I cannot name one favourite song at any given point of time. Right now the only thing on my mind is Linkin Park songs and how they were so much more than just songs. My favourite Linkin Park songs :

I can go on and on…but I won’t…

Other than these what I am listening to right now is

What could you do for hours (that isn’t reading)?

I love to binge watch shows or movies…sometimes I can do so for days on end forget hours.  The other thing I can do for hours is watch the rains or the waves while listening to music. Or I can talk I can talk nonstop forever (but not with everyone)!

What is something you love to do that your followers would be surprised by?

History fascinates me to no end. I love history. If I had my way I would have majored in History. Dates & events and their repercussions fascinate me. So does mythology, for the same reasons

What is your favorite unnecessarily specific thing to learn about (this can do with books, I guess)?

Like I said before history…I love watching and learning historical facts and figures. The Epicgrams on Epic TV are my favourite they are so specific to a time place and event in a person’s life.  Another thing I love to lean and I am trying to is kirigami, it is the sister of origami that I love to do.

What is something unusual you know how to do?

I love Origami and I love folding paper to create beautiful things.

Name something you’ve made in the last year (and show us, if you can).

I keep making some stuff here and there especially with my kid. The last thing we made was a food pyramid with some real food for his school assignment.

What is your most recent personal project?

I have been trying to get back to concentrating on myself, mindful living and eating. Rather unsuccessfully till now I might add! Also I have been trying to learn more about teas.  I have recently developed a tea crush and am cheating on coffee with tea (please don’t tell my daily filter kapi about the cheating, if coffee gets angry with me then my day will be doomed)

Tell us something you think about often (maybe while staring out of windows).

I often wonder about how S would have loved spending time with my grandmother. (Read about her here), but mostly I stare out of the window look at the people around and make up my own stories about their lives.

Give us something that’s your favorite, but make it something oddly specific, not like your favorite food, but like your favorite food when you’ve been studying for hours and forgot to eat. Or, you know, something like that.

I love to eat dark chocolate when I am angry or when I am cramping its dark chocolate Ice cream.  Chocolate cake when I am sad. So basically its chocolate in oddly specific forms at oddly specific times.

So these were some things I do when I am not reading or writing! What do you do when you are not reading? How do you spend your time? Share with me in the comments below.

  1. Okay the ‘thing that totally stood out for me were those credits. Congratulations Jaibala. This is fab! Loved your responses too. I realised I love history too. Over the past years I’ve been reading/watching videos of historical events and retelling the children. Lately we’ve been sitting with the world map and tracing ancient civilisations – how the Greeks came to Egypt – and I realise I’m rambling! But it certainly is fascinating.

  4. You already know that LP is on my mind too this morning. The first LP song I’d heard was Breaking the Habit, and from then on, I’ve had so many favorites. I’m heartbroken.

Lifehouse’s Broken was on my playlist once. I heard it on an episode of Grey’s and downloaded it. And woohoo, the next Shonda Rhimes is who you will be, muah to you!

You are a woman of many many talents. I’m constantly amazed by you, your varied interests, all of it <3 Love you, Jai.

    1. For the cartoons there is a new channel Toonami – it will help you relive your childhood, and helps me show S mine. Kirigami is fun. 🙂

  7. Nice to know more about you, Jai and so happy for you about the screenplay writing and feature. I love chocolate as well, mostly dark chocolate and can have it just about anytime. This was a fun tag and I enjoyed reading about so many friends when they took it up.
