Why is it that you only hear?

You never listen

Forever more or we were?

Unseen, Tears glisten.

Love, a word, now seems obscure,

Should have seen it shrinking

Even though safety you did assure

All of that just wishful thinking.

Memories flood, of days gone by,

That time when we were happy

It took but a moment, why?

Now you wouldn’t stand by me.

From that time I had only you

β€˜till the moment all thrown away

That when I try to reach anew

Further apart we stray.

  3. Very heavy and touchy poem. Just want to wish well for such situations to be able to bear the change

    1. True Nidhi, it is just something we have to learn to deal with and move on and live with the change.

  4. So tough with love especially when the warmth has evaporated. I guess love is tricky and true and everlasting love is the most difficult to find.

    1. Yes Rachna, once that bond severs and the warmth evaporates, it is just hard to keep that love going. I agree with you that true love is difficult to find.

  5. That was quite poignant and extremely well written Jai!

  6. We never do see love shrinking till finally one day it’s just not there. But then people who believe in love do find it in other places.

    1. Yeah, wishful thinking and hope πŸ™‚

  8. What seems eternal at one time, doesn’t seem so later? Is true love so transitional or was it your mind that played tricks on you to believe it was true love? Whatever it is, love comes back to you as much as you give! Beautiful and poignant words, Jai!

    1. Yes I do agree love come back as much as you give, in different forms, but it does. Thank You Kala

  9. In a mother-daughter relationship, there are phases in life when our perspective changes, we doubt the underlying love. But, it has been there and it shall remain. It takes a shift in perspectives to be able to see the larger picture.

    1. Yes Uma, the love always remains. We might just not understand the form we see now. πŸ™‚

  11. Sometimes love hurts but the one way to bring it all back is to continue giving it without expecting it in return. That’s the hardest lesson that love teaches you, sadly. And yes, for most of us it does become wishful thinking.

    1. I so agree with you. You just cannot stop loving ever, even when it is wishful thinking.

  12. It’s interesting how love seems to be forever more when it starts out, then it reduces when the support that that love promises doesn’t happen when we most need it. It pricks more when that love is a love between mother and daughter. For unlike a romance or a marriage, that love between mother and daughter doesn’t/shouldn’t lose the friendship even years after. Thoughtful, and poignant poetry, Jai.

    1. A mother is a daughter’s best friend, biggest support and the only one who can understand what the other is going through. It does hurt to lose that kind of a relationship. And it works both ways

  13. Beautiful verses.. love it.. It’s been a long time I haven’t written much of a verse.. πŸ™‚

    1. Thank You so much Pratikshya and welcome to my humble online abode. Do write, it just takes a word for the magic of poetry to envelope you.

  14. Love knows no bounds!!
