Fragile Lives

You walk alone in an empty home

You talk a lot about reaching the moon

You misdirect and think we won’t know

You have given up, waiting all in gloom

Before all hope you revile

Remember we all lead fragile lives

Like that costly cup of porcelain

A break can cost you a lifetime

Hold on, It’s easy for me you say

I cannot watch you every time you walk away

But we both know it’s true, it’s hard for me and you

A moment is all it takes, not even a day.

Before all hope you revile

Remember we all lead fragile lives

Like that costly cup of porcelain

A break can cost you a lifetime

Myths and unknown were never about you

Faith and purpose never paid their due

Life and reason all lost for you,

Impermanence waiting for time I knew

Time will stop still and it will change

I know you will stop being this way

Angry, sad, bitter, hurtful

All those things were never you

I wonder how you got this way

Before all hope you revile

Remember we all lead fragile lives

Like that costly cup of porcelain

A break can cost you a lifetime

    1. ONly advice I follow is figure out what want to say and just say it! Thank You

  2. The most common thing in all your poems is hope and faith and belief. Keep growing, Jai. Love.

  3. So very true and written well!

    1. Thank You Alok

  4. Have personally and seen friends too go through this phase. It’s tough to see them when they lose hope – but it always helps to just be there for them. Your poem resonated with me deeply. Thanks for reminding that we have fragile lives – changes one’s perspective on living fully.

    1. Thank You so much. If we remember how fragile our lives are, we will always value what we have more and live rather than exist, choose to pursue only things that matter and most important never take anyone for granted.

  5. This strikes a chord on so many levels. πŸ™

    1. That is the best thing a poet can hear, that their poem strikes a chord with another.

  6. Poem? You really expect me to comment on that? πŸ˜›

Life/ Relationships/ everything is so fragile these days. Glad that I have some ones bonded with fevicol πŸ™‚

  8. Such an important reminder and such beautiful verses! Loved the comparison to porcelain cups.

    1. Thank You Aditi. The Porcelain cups were perfect for what I wanted to convey. Pretty to look at but handle with care else they will break.

  9. Sometimes, change just happens. We don’t realize the damage to the cup till we try to fill it with flavorful milk. I like the refrain verse, like a chorus to your lyric. πŸ™‚

Perhaps that one verse of five lines could have been four lines too. to add to the rhythm? πŸ™‚

    1. Change happens yes, but everything has a reason or a cause. Well you know I love refrains. The five lines felt great there, don’t know why.

  10. Wow! So much thought in those lines. A sad but very true lesson of life. The fragility of our lives should make us remember to thank life for its daily bounties and forget petty niggles. Beautifully done Jai!

  13. A lesson we need to revisit over and over again that our lives are fragile. When compared to the larger picture, all these small hurts, anger, indignation seem so petty and futile. Nice message there, Jai!

    1. A lesson we so often forget. The things that matter we ignore and the things that don’t we keep worrying about.

  14. A read a lesson in that poem. A reminder that life was fragile and that it is not worth spending time being bitter or angry. Sigh! if only I could remember that! And it’s strange how people who love us the most get to see our saddest phases.

    1. Ah! so true Tulika. People who are the closest and most important to us get to see us at our worst. As for as forgetting the lesson, I do too so many times in a day and I have to keep reminding myself.

  15. Thats beautiful Jaibala. Its a bit sad but true.

    1. Thanks lata πŸ™‚

  16. Beautiful poetry 😊
Looks like the poetry isn’t written but created beautifully.

    1. Dixita thank You so much. πŸ™‚
