Movie Character I Want to Play #TadkaTuesday

Jaibala/ November 15, 2016/ #TadkaTuesday/ 34 comments

Every time I watch a movie, it is like I have been transported into that universe.  For me a well made movie can make me feel like a part of their world. Zootopia was one of those where the entire world they created made me feel a part of it. This is much easier when there is a movie character you identify with. But of the so many characters I have which is the one I wish I had played? This question had me stumped.

I would have loved to play Hermione. She is strong, is not afraid to share her opinions, Loyal and ambitions. Hermione made having an ambition cool for girls. She stood by whatever she believed in and spoke up when she feels the need.  And that is a movie character we need and one that I can identify with easily.

She made being nerdy super cool and being smart a something that everyone would crave for. Having an ambition is a good thing and Hermione reminds me of that. Of course the source of this movie are the wonderful Harry Potter Books which have brilliantly etched out characters and the character arc of Hermione is brilliant.

And then there is Katniss Everdeen. In some ways she is the opposite of Hermione. She only ambition is survival. She is loyal, cares for her loved ones and that is her biggest strength. Everyone around her can see her potential, but she is cannot recognise it. And when she does, she is reluctant to accept it. Until she realises the only way for her is to accept who she really is, all of it. She had to become the Mockingjay.

Rather than playing one of the two characters , what I wold actually like to do is play the a character taht is an amalgamation of both. Katmoine or Herniss – Whatever you call her, this is going to be one great kickass Movie Character and this is the character I would love to play.

So tell me what movie character would you like to play?

  1. I think you are both, Jai and I love you for being so strong and inspiring 🙂
I don’t know what I would love to play. But I think I am ‘Julie’ from ‘Julie and Julia’ who is fun-loving but disoriented and has a hard time trying to focus on one thing, but loves cooking and believes her husband is her strength. Oh, I love Meryl Streep as Julia as well. <3

    1. Thank You Shalini. Also I am not surprised that you would pick Julie. I can see you as Julie.

  2. This would be a fun movie to watch.
Love Hermone more than Katniss. Actually the book characters outshine the one in the movies.

    1. I agree, maybe having such strong source material in form of the books made these characters better in the movies. Thank You Amrita

  3. Dunno where my comment disappeared. Anyway, here goes again – I love your choices. I loved how Lawrence did Katniss Everdeen. And Hermione was super too. Smart and brave. Is it a coincidence that both your choices made their way into films from books?

    1. Though it was a total coincidence, but I guess, having that kind of source material made these characters so much better. Thank You Tulika 🙂

  4. Hermoiniss ? 😛
I haven’t been a big fan of the Mockingjay series. So I’m going to refrain from commenting on that.
I think you have a lot of ‘Hermoine’ like characteristics in you – but I think you also need to be a bit more confident to be able to pull her off.
Does the character that you’re able to relate, have to be from the same gender? I think I relate you more to Cumberbatch’s Sherlock portrayal. You have the slightly eccentric, searching for answers, not taking NO kind of vibe going on 🙂

PS: I know it said ‘movie character’ but I think you should include TV Too.

    1. By saying Cumberbatch’s Sherlock you know you made my day right! Ah! Yes, I should have included all forms of performing arts. Working on the Hermione like confidence now 🙂

  5. Hmm ok so let me think…. maybe vidya balan in kahani…

    1. Interesting choice Ramya 🙂

  6. I’m not much of a Harry Potter follower so I wouldn’t relate to these characters but you do make them sound strong and inspiring.
If I were to choose a character who’s skin I’d like to get under, although she’s not a movie character, I’d love to be Phoebe from F.R.I.E.N.D.S. just to enjoy the goofiness of her personality!

    1. Phoebe, I love her, I couldn’t pull her off though. I might be Monica from friends probably. Thank You so much Vinodini

  7. Good choice my dear, I think the role would suit you perfectly! Hermione is a rather strong character and with layers of stubbornness, determination, grit, beauty, brains and humor too! Yes, its your role…go for it…watch out Emma 😉
Kala Ravi recently posted…The Influencer – What would we do without you?My Profile

    1. Haha Kala Yes, Emma needs to watch out 😉 On a serious note Thank You so much, for everything

  8. Ah! Hermione! Every girl, who has read Harry Potter that is, dreams of being her, don’t we all!
I need to Google Katniss, as I have no idea who she is.
I am wondering who I would like to be. Let me zero in on one and write a post about it 🙂

    1. Yes Mayuri, so true, and she is a perfect role model I feel. Thank You 🙂

  9. I loved Zootopia too..it was a fun movie. I also loved Hermione in the movie..she was highly logical and very expressive. Combination of both will be great and you are a strong and smart female like these two. 🙂
Deepa recently posted…Which character you want to be? #TadkaTuesdayMy Profile

    1. Thank You Deepa. And Zootopia was hilarious. It was also the first movie S saw in the theatre 🙂 So it is extra special.

  10. Thanks for the shout out 🙂 Been busy as you know but will think on this prompt and have my entry soon.
Roshan Radhakrishnan recently posted…Movie Characters that remind me of myself #TadkaTuesdayMy Profile

    1. Yes doc and I am so glad that you were busy with what you were. Congratulations once again.

  11. I haven’t read a single Harry Potter book (shame on me!) so, I really have no idea about this young girl! But, from what I read about her in your post, Jaibala, I think you already are a lot like her…strong, ambitious, unafraid of sharing your opinions and caring, aren’t you? 🙂 Frankly, YOU are a heroine worth emulating, girl! Kudos to you!

    1. Shilpa though I don’t judge you for not reading the books, you mut read them, they are so wonderful. And Thank You so much and lots of love <3

  12. Oho, super cool! Now that would be a fun Hermione to watch or even Katniss. I can’t think of any role that I would love to play, some kickass woman for sure. Maybe lady Amitabh in PINK. 🙂
Rachna recently posted…Coffee: From Seed to Cup – A Commitment to Excellence #NescafePlanMy Profile

    1. Oh Rachna that would be such a perfect character for you. I imagine you would also be great in some of those really strong women roles that Rekha and Shabana Azmi did! Thank You so much

  13. I can never watch a Harry Potter movie without imagining you to be Hermione now 🙂

And I say that in a good way.
Soumya recently posted…Booked For LifeMy Profile

    1. Haha Thank You Soumya 🙂

  14. I have never been hooked up to the Harry Potter saga to say so. But from the couple of movies that I have seen Hermione has been a stupendous character to say the least. As rightly identified by you here her ability to stand by whatever she believed in and speaking up when she felt the need is what relates me to her.

Just to add may not be in the same league Naina’s character in Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani is somewhat close to if not similar in making the nerdy super cool and being smart a something that everyone would crave for. Did I just give away my post 😉
Karan recently posted…Movie Character I Want to Play #TadkaTuesdayMy Profile

    1. Haha Karan, I happened to read your post before i could read your comment, so all good. And yes I agree Naina was all the one who made being nerdy super cool, and smartness a quality to strive for. What I absolutely love about Hermione is that she made being an ambitious woman, a quality to be appreciated.

  15. I think aren’t you already the combination of both? 🙂
Ashwini Dodani recently posted…15. The Secret To A Better DayMy Profile

    1. A combination of both is perfect Ashu. Thanks 🙂

  16. I love these characters because of such strong messages they send out you know.
Few people told me I am like Katniss Everdeen. I have never watched the movie though.
I love many but none so far has convinced me enough to be able to play a role. 🙈

    1. The role meant for you is not yet written then, Ramya. I know what you mean about the messaging these characters stand for.

  17. My my, you’re going places! This looks and reads great Jai! Kudos!

    1. Thank You so much Dagny. You just made my day and week. <3
