NaPoWriMo : Love You and Good Night

Todays prompt for the NaPoWriMo was, ” Today I challenge you to write a poem in the voice of a member of your family. This can be a good way to try to distance yourself from your own experience, without reaching so far away from your own life that it’s hard to come up with specific, realistic details. But watch out! This type of exercise can also dredge up a lot of feelings. So if you think writing in the voice of your grandfather will be too heavy, maybe try the voice of your four-year-old niece. Four-year-old problems might be a little lighter in scope.

Happy writing!”. Here is my attempt to write as my two year old Son.

She knows not why the sun and moon are never in the same place,

I wonder why when I make mud with clay, there is a frown on Mumma’s face,

Why cant the Sea be green and the Sky red,

Why am I always shipped off to bed,

When Mumma says no, it means no,

When I say no she always makes mean yes,

Why when I tell her the about beeping of the fridge,

Rather than thanking me why does she always yell,

The noise the drumstick makes is so sweet,

But the steel  one , I can never beat,

I try to help by keeping the plates,

Lining the bottles but now we have kitchen gates,

I have fun when she writes for me AB,  one two,

Draws flowers, buses and butterflies too,

She takes me swimming and we have lots of fun,

She has answers to all my questions under the sun,

She talk so much, and has so much advice,

But I like her every time she says “Love you and goodnight”
