The Prompt for the NaPoWriMo today was ” Today, let’s rewrite a famous poem, giving it our own spin. While any famous poem will do, if you haven’t already got one in mind, why not try your own version of Cesar Vallejo’s Black Stone Lying on a White Stone? If you’re not exactly sure how such a poem could be “re-written,” check out this recent poem by Stephen Burt, which riffs on Vallejo’s. Happy writing!” I chose I carry your heart with Me by E.E.Cummings
YOUR HEART LIES WITHIN MINE
I never miss you even with the passing of time,
You are with me every step and every breath,
And through the distance I hear the beating,
So close each time, your heart lies within mine.
With every sunrise and moon shine,
Every step, I take everything I see,
Every place I be, you are with me,
For all eternity, your heart lies within mine.
Whatever my fate, I know I will do fine,
And of the world I wont care,
Cause you are my fate and you are my World,
I am without care (Cause) your heart lies within mine.
No one knows this biggest secret of mine,
You are my roots deep, and the highest branch,
The only wonder that keeps the starts apart,
You are my soul and always your heart lies within mine.
