In the days after the fateful morning on 16th May 2008, the case that came to be known as the Noida Double Murder case came into the limelight. Like everyone else, I had followed the case when it first broke. When the book by Avirook Sen released earlier this year, it reignited the debate with a new angle. Everyone I knew had an opinion on this case, and it was the subject of many a debates. I had witnessed all the media coverage, the debates, the personal opinions. So what new could a movie based on these Double murder that happened in Noida in 2008 tell me about it? That was the the question going through my mind when I had gone to attend the special screening of Talvar with on the 25th September 2015.

The movie delves deep into the mystery that gripped the entire nation as it broke, and follows the twists and turns of the investigation that was ultimately closed for lack of evidence. Talvar had premiered in the Toronto International Film Festival to rave reviews and a lot of critical acclaim. A strong screenplay written by Vishal Bhardwaj and being steered in the right direction by Meghna Gulzar, I expected nothing short of brilliance and I was not disappointed.

The cast (Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma , Neeraj Kabi and Tabu in a guest appearance) does a brilliant Job of oscillating between being innocent and being damned. This works wonders for the movie. Every person is effective, even in the smallest of roles and they only add to the various points of view. The three perspectives are handled so amazingly that you notice the difference however subtle they may be. All the different perspectives shown in a single movie, with most of the characters either being questioned or exonerated every single time the investigation changes hands.

A lot of research went into writing the story and screenplay and the efforts pay off in the movie and every minute detail shown. The music by Vishal Bharadwaj is another huge asset to the movie. Talvar is not about a name, Talvar is about an idea that the statue of Justice has a sword in the other hand, which we tend to forget while focusing on the balance. Talvar is about justice not judgement.

The Parents have been pronounced guilty and are in jail since 2013, and still the Double murder case is unresolved. No one has got closure yet. Was it honour killing, a revenge drama or a conspiracy? You decide. http://wp.me/p6DgSU-oU
