The Page Turned

Jaibala/ January 19, 2017/ Poetry/ 24 comments

And the page turned,
The recipe changed,
New tastes discovered,
New dishes will be made.

And the page turned,
The story moved on,
Some people got lost,
Others a path to move on.

And the page turned,
New lessons were learnt,
New places discovered,
New dreams woven.

And the page turned,
The past left behind,
The future hasn’t arrived,
The new now celebrates.

  1. Simple, yet so deep. Pages keep turning, new facts and figures appear but I’d say there’s something within us which never changes and that’s what makes us who we are. Keep writing, my friend πŸ™‚

    1. Don’t you think that we adapt too? Maybe we dont change, but we learn new things and learn to deal with things. Thank You so much Ashu.

  2. I love how you put this Jaibala. If only we weren’t so scared of what life would throw up we would turn the pages easily and welcome the new much more happily.

    1. We would now, wouldn’t we! But such is life, we are scared of the unknown and love to cling on to the known.

  3. Such is life eh?!
Everyday there is something new.. we either row along or get swept aside… but it doesn’t stop…

    beautifully written Jai πŸ™‚
It’s nice to be reading you again πŸ™‚

    1. It is like that only na. I sometimes wish we had the power to change things, but hey what has to happen will. Thank You for reading me Pix, you know how much it means to me πŸ™‚

  4. Each day ..
    A new page..
    A new experience..
A memory to hold on to..
    A “present”
that would fade onto to a “past” ..

    That’s what life is πŸ™‚

    Stay blessed πŸ™‚

    1. True, the present always turns into a story and fades into the past.

PS: Can I hound you here to write please!

  5. That’s life! The page always turns, and we always have to go with the flow. But so many new adventures await. Sorrow and heartache too, but let’s focus on the learning and growing (that’s my motto for 2017!) πŸ˜€

    1. True, and that is the beauty about life too. Th story always moves on.

  8. A very hopeful piece. And lovely way of putting the message across πŸ™‚
(PS: We all wish to turn the page and get so restless when we fail! Here’s to hope!)

    1. I am one of those people, I get extremely restless when something is stuck, and I want it to move on.

  9. Well said. So much said in such few words — I am in awe of your writing prowess. Isn’t this how it is for all of us? Sometimes the pages turn on their own and we are left to adjust to the changes. At other times, we push them to turn because we just can’t bear how the story plays out just now. Loved it, Jai.

    1. It is easier when we cant control what is happening, when we make those changes ourselves, we can end up hating what we have done. But in the end the story plays out.

  10. Is it really that easy to ‘turn the page’ and get on with it?
Perhaps not. But we must try, I reckon.

    1. I agree, not easy but try we must.

  11. Short, crisp and beautiful! πŸ™‚
How I wish it was easy to bury the past and move on! But yes, it is imperative.
P.S: Glad to see you back. Yay!!
